Row Houses

As I am impatiently waiting for the kitchen remodel project to be finished I am sewing on some UFO's.  The ongoing rainbow house blocks needed to be completed.  When I laid out the blocks I still need three more house blocks.

This is the start of the Rainbow Row House Quilt

I did finish the Now and Later quilt into a flimsy.

A Rainbow Finish

I have been busy with a kitchen remodel.  So I haven't had much time for sewing rainbow blocks or any other blocks.  I needed to finish a rainbow quilt.  These stars are made from my 1.5" squares that I sewed into patch blocks.  I had some string blocks that I added to this rainbow quilt.
I hope to finish my Rainbow house blocks soon.

Here are other quilts I have been sewing.

These two are UFO's that were given to Quilts of Compassion

These blocks are from a block swap and it is finally completed.

This quilt will be a gift for a friend.

This quilt I gave for a charity auction.  The group is raising money to go to Disney World to perform.  They are a dance company.

This is the scrap quilt I am sewing.  The pattern was a freebie from  Quiltmaker Magazine called Now and Later.  The finished size will be 78 1/2 X 82 1/2.

July Finishes

July was a good sewing month for me.  I have had some finishes and a few more rainbow blocks.

Three charity quilts

This quilt is a graduation gift.  It is late but finished and given.

I have been busy make Beads of Courage bags for Make a Difference Day in October.   People will be given an opportunity to make a difference by adding the strings to the bag.   I have 18 bags ready to have the strings added.  Here are three of them.

Here is the rest of my July Rainbow Blocks.
I am wondering what rainbow color is August.

Rainbow Blocks and More

I have been trying to keep up with the Angela's Scrap Rainbow Challenge color of the month.    These are the most recent blocks I have made for the challenge.
My string basket is even getting smaller but I am sure that won't last long.  I have a couple more string quilts I hope to show you soon.
I now have lots of star blocks.  I think it is time to see if I have enough for a quilt.

A couple of finished quilts
Both of this quilts will go to a charity.
Even the lily in my pond knows Pink is this momth's rainbow color.

United We Stand
Here is an opportunity for quilter's to do something positive for the Dallas Police Department tragedy.    If you think you would like to make a block please know the blocks need to be in the mail by July 22nd.
My block is going in the mail tomorrow.
Thank you Martelli for caring for others.

Good-bye Greens

String blocks
As I was making green string blocks I found two long forgotten projects.  I found some string blocks that had a green center strings.  I made more blocks.

The other find was green and white rail fence blocks.  I finished making rail fence blocks until the white fabric was gone.  I added a border so it would larger.  Pretty little baby quilt.

More green finishes.
Beads of Courage Bags

Chemo Hats

I wonder what rainbow color is June.  I guess I will go over to ScrappyHappy and find out.

I Won and A Star to Remember

A couple weeks ago Quiltmaker magazine released Quilmaker's 100 Block collector's addition vol. 13.  Debbie at Shadow of the Blue Ridge drew my name.  Woohoo!  Of course Debbie's block Flowers For the Cabin just had to be the first block I would make.  There are lots of little pieces in this block but it was so worth the time to make.  I love that it is a log cabin block of flowers and basket.  Since this month's rainbow color is green I decide I would make a green block.
I am considering making more rainbow Flower For the Cabin blocks.

I also gave this Carpenter Star quilt to a friend.  Today her son would have graduated from high school but four years ago he passed away from cancer.  I thought she could use a quilty hug.

My friend Norece quilted it for me.  She does beautiful quilting and that made this Carpenter Star quilt sparkle.  I am sure her son is watching over her.

Beads of Courage Bags and Rainbow Blocks

As you know I love to make Beads of Courage bags.  Since March I have made 44 bags.  I have another 11 bags that I need to finish.  I had a couple of special requests for certain fabrics.  Hopefully all these bags will bring smiles to children.
I did find time to make a couple purple and orange rainbow blocks.  I need to add some green stars to the collection.

My current scrap project is a basket of 2" squares.  I saw a block I liked that would be perfect for my 2" squares.  Go to Random Thoughts Do or "Di" to see the posted.
One block done.  Who knows how many more until the basket is empty.

I did make 16 patch blocks but still haven't found time to sew the rows together.

Scrap Happiness

Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict is hosting two fun projects.  The first one is her annual Hands 2 Help charity challenge.  Every year many quilts are made and given to wonderful charities.  You can even win prizes just for participating.  It is not to late to join so I hope you will consider joining.  The other project Sarah is hosting is I May Have A Scrap Problem.  I know I have lots of scraps and every year I participate in H2H charity challenge.  This year I am combine the two projects.  I found a scrap pattern called Scrap Happiness Squared by Linda Lehn.
This is my finished H2H quilt for Happy Chemo.
This scrappy quilt used 108 - 4.5" squares and 540 - 2.5" squares but I still have lots of scraps.

I thought you would like an update on my 1.5" squares project.
I have used some of the 16 patch blocks in this quilt top.   It does feel good that these little squares have become a pretty quilt.  I still have many 16 patch blocks. I keep looking for another pattern to use them.

There are a few less scraps in my sewing room.

Browns, Purples, and More

As February was coming to an end I was able to made a few more brown blocks in February.   I need a few more house blocks to have a finished quilt.  I hope to have this project completed this year.
Angela at soscrappy has  announced purple for the March rainbow scrap color.  As you know I am sewing my 1.5" squares into 16 patch blocks.  This project is getting closer to being completed into 16 patch blocks.  I only have 12 more patch blocks to sew.  Woohoo!

I made a baby quilt.  I used fleece for the backing.  I sewed the top and backing right sides together and then turned them inside out.  It is a quick way to have a completed quilt.  I am making another one  using the same pattern and it will be one of my purples for March.

I also participated in Aunt Reem's Place  sew along Big Leap.  I had a small pink jelly roll that I used to make a baby quilt.  It was a fun sew along.
I plan to use fleece on the back of this quilt.

I hope you will take a moment and read Piece N Quilt blog about The Battle Against Breast Cancer and what she is doing to help her mom.  Natalia is creating a one block pattern and all the proceeds goes to her mother.  I hope you will take a moment and think of her mom.

Scraps Update and Browns

Do you remember when I said my plans are to sew all my little 1.5" squares?  The basket looked like this when I decided to conquer the squares.
And now the basket looks like this.
Now before you get too excited no I haven't sewn all the little squares and I didn't throw the squares in the trash.  I have clipped all the squares together to make the blocks.
I have sewn over 40 16-patch blocks and I have over 40 blocks yet to be sewn.
I am pleased with my progress.  The basket has been removed from my sewing room.  Hopefully by the end February all 16-patch blocks will be done.

February brings the color brown for the rainbow color of the month.  I have made some brown  patch star blocks.
I was wondering if little star blocks would go with the patch blocks.  These star blocks are 4.5".  I will continue to make them.
I did a test block for the Amish quilt.  I wanted to make sure my block was the correct size when sewn.

If you want to see more Browns go to Angela's and be inspired.
