Design Wall Monday - February 20, 2012

I am so "Delighted" with this baby quilt. The top is half finished.

Julie at Intrepid Threads made sure I had enough fabric for this quilt.

Thanks Julie.

Have a great week!

Friday Update

I keep seeing pictures of the jelly roll 1600 quilt. How difficult could it be? I watched the you tube video and read the instructions and decided today was the day I was making a jelly roll quilt. I had a Max & Whiskers jelly roll and I need a baby quilt for a boy. It was quick, easy and fun.

I also was looking back at my 2012 Finish-A-Long List.
Number 1 & 2 are completed.
Number 3 needs the binding sewn down.

Number 3 is Rag Quilts. Here are two more for a total of 3.

Number 5 - No Houses Sewn.

Number 6 - 3 baby quilt to make. The Jelly Roll quilt is one, I have another one ready to quilt, and third one is not started.

I think I am progressing nicely on my list.

Special Quilt

I have been sewing on this special quilt. I belong to a Yahoo Group and one of group members has a brain tumor and is going to have surgery. We issued a request for blocks and 25 women from around the world answered our request. Most of the blocks have words of encouragement written on the blocks. This picture does not begin to show the beautiful of the quilt. I believe this quilt will bring the receiver peace, love, and comfort. I will be mailing the quilt to another member of the group and she will do the quilting. The quilt is a surprise. I had an extra block so I made her a pocket prayer quilt. I have tied 25 prayers for her.

Don't you agree, it is a very special quilt?

The List

Here is another quilt checked off my list. The quilt has been delivered and Gina loves it. This quilt is the same pattern and fabrics but oh what a difference border fabrics make. This one will be in mail this week.

After I check Sarah's Whoop Whoop Fridays to see what everyone else has been doing I am off to find my to do list.

Have a "sewing" day.

Saturday Progress

This quilt is finished. One quilt checked off my 2012 finish-a-long list. It is a February birthday gift. I like the back as much as the front. I used blue and white flannel on the back and it is so soft.

I finished the blocks from 12 Days of Christmas Sampler mystery quilt. One is for me and the other one will be a Christmas gift. I still need to quilt them. I am thinking about hand quilting them.

Completed Painting Project

Sherry wanted to be in the pictures.

I have joined an I Spy Charm Swap over at Midnight Maker. Lorelei has started a 2nd I Spy group. So if you are interested go to Lorelei's blog and sign up. Here is my fabric I am sending to swap.

Hope you have a "sewing" week-end.

Painting

It is only January 5th and my life already feels out of control. We are having our hallways, kitchen and family room painted. It has been two days and this is what it looks like.

Tarps and paint supplies everywhere. It will be two more days before it will be finished. You don't want to see the other rooms where everything is stored until it can go back into these rooms.

HELP!

I need quilt therapy. I can't even sew while all of this is going on. Please give me some suggestions on new fun sewing tutorials or QAL.

Welcome 2012

What are New Year's resolutions? Something you say you are going to do and after a month or two you stop. This year I decided I can follow through if I break the year down in quarters like over at Quilter in the Gap. I think if I break down my list by quarters I will feel like I have accomplished my goals. Here is my first quarter list.

1. Finish this quilt. Needs the binding sewn down. This is a February birthday gift.

2. I have another quilt almost like #1. It needs quilted.

3. Finished hand quilting this postage stamp quilt. This is a March birthday gift.

4. Use up my flannel scraps making rag quilts like this one. I wonder how many I quilts I will have when finished.

5. I want to make Building Houses from Scraps 2012. I don't plan on making 366 houses but I do want to make some houses. Check it out at Jeanneke.

6. Make 3 baby quilts.

I think this is a reasonable list that I can accomplish.

Have you seen the 12 Days of Christmas Blocks? They will be a mini mystery sampler quilt. You can find the blocks at Temecula Quilt Co. Here are my first seven blocks. I am making two sets.

I hope everyone has a blessed New Year.
