Welcome 2015

Hello 2015

May it bring happiness, staying healthy, and lots of quilting time.  Most people make New Year's resolutions and by spring we have either broken them or forgot them.  I want 2015 to be about my accomplishments.  I will use a quilt journal to keep track of these accomplishments.

I have divided the journal into section for keeping track.  I am not going to set specific numbers for these goals.  I want to keep this simple so it doesn't become overwhelming.  Here is my list in no particular order.

1. Beads of Courage Bags
2. Quilts for Charities
3. Quilts just for me
4. Advent gifts for my friend

I do know I need to make a baby quilt for my daughter's friend and two graduation quilts.   As the need arises I am sure this will change hopefully not to often.

The first of the two project is these blue and yellow blocks that need to be finished.

The second one is using my 2" scraps.  This is a Bonnie Hunter pattern.

I plan on only participating in very few quilting challenge in 2015.  I will participate in Sarah's annual H2H challenge.  Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict hosts this challenge unusually around March.   I also will participate in Angela's Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2015.  This challenge is a great way to use your scraps and these ladies make the most interesting rainbow blocks.
I did find a great scrap challenge that I am considering for my rainbow challenge.  Sherri at A Quilting Life is hosting a scrap challenge and one way is to make Dresden Plate blocks.  I think this would be fun and they could be my rainbow block challenge.

What quilting plans do you have for 2015?

Karen

  1. Happy New Year Karen!

I like the simplicity of your 2015 quilt journal, I always tend to over think my goals. I am glad you made a section "just for you". I also have been thinking about using Sherri's Dresden Plate tutorial. Enjoy your long weekend.

  3. I love the simplicity of your quilt journal with just the four categories. Last year I made a list of the quilts that I want to make and I think I finished 3 tops??? This year will be more focused and hopefully more organized.

I have never participated in a challenge, but plan to organize a Quilt-A-Long next fall using Laurie Aaron Hird's third Farmer's Wife Sampler book. Does Bonnie issue challenges often?

  4. Those blocks with cheddar sashing are really great. I have decided not to try to participate in too many challenges this year as well. I am a fairly new blogger, and I think last year I went a bit over the top. Too stressful, and quilting is supposed to be fun, not a stress. Good luck with your goals.
