I make prayer quilts. I was in a very long line at the funeral home and of course you talk to the people in the line with you. As I caught up with an old friend I found out his SIL had cancer. His brother and I graduated from high school together many years ago. My thoughts went immediately to I need to make her a prayer quilt. So in December 2012 I gave her this quilt. She sent me a thank you that has touched my heart.
Since December 2012 I have had this thought running through my head. Make a prayer quilt and give it to someone to give to someone who need prayers and comfort. Well I have finally done that. Last week I meet with a friend of mine and ask her if she would like to do this.
This is the quilt I gave her. I ask her to prayer about who should receive this quilt for at least one week. I told her I don't need to know who she gives the quilt to but I would like to know that she gave the quilt.
This is what is on the label.
May this quilt be a sign of God's loving, healing presence. May it warm you when you are weary. May it surround you with encouragement when you are discouraged. May it remind you are surrounded by the prayers of others. This quilt was made especially for you with love, hope and prayers. Each knot represents a prayer that was said for you. Hold it, touch it, wrap up in it....always knowing you are loved.
I hope my leap of faith comforts someone special.
My present sewing project is another prayer quilt for a lady going through cancer treatments. Today I found out a co-worker has cancer. How do I find the time to make another quilt?
