A Few More Blues

The scrappy blue rainbow color is coming to an end for January.  I have made a few string blocks.
As I was sewing string blocks I got to wondering how a string block would look as a star block.
I like it.  I think it will look nice with my patch star blocks.
No more blues for me.  I will be checking over at Angela's soscrappy to find out what rainbow color will be February.

I have been sewing blocks for an Amish Quilt With a Twist II.
This is block #11.  Blocks 12 are log cabin blocks and there are lots of them to make.  Hopefully one day my blocks will look like this quilt.

Blue Progress Update

It is time again to check in at Angela's Rainbow Scrap Challenge with our progress using our blue scraps.  I have been working on my little squares making 16 patch blocks.  I started out with this basket full of 1.5" squares.
I have been sewing and sewing.  I have made 40 - 16 patch blocks.  That is 640 little squares.  I wonder how many more 16 patch blocks are still in the basket.  I will conquer this.
After seeing some star blocks with patch blocks I decided I would make six star blocks each month.
My BLUE ones are completed.

I know I was determined not to start any new scrap projects.  Karen at Laugh Yourself Into Stitches posted about making snowman and they are so adorable.  Yesterday I couldn't resist any longer.  There are lots of little pieces but the block was fun to make.
I was making these tiny bags for gifts and decided to make one a month in the rainbow color.  This blue will be a gift for a friend.  I keep my wonder clips in mine.

I will be spending the rest of the blue month making string blocks.

It's a Mystery

Every year on New Year's Eve I try to participate in a quilt mystery.  This year's mystery used a jelly roll.  I need a quilt for a wedding gift later this year so I decide this mystery quilt will be the gift.
It was a fun quilt to make.

As we begin 2016 everyone makes resolutions.  I am breaking down my year into what I will be making by July.
Wedding quilt -1
Baby quilts - 2
Graduation quilts - 2
The wedding quilt and one baby quilt is already a flimsy.

I have decided I would have on going projects.  One of these projects is an Amish Quilt Kit.  It has many different blocks and I plan to make some blocks each week until it is completed.
Here is block #2 & #3.
Another on going projects will be using all the scraps I have cut and saved.  My first basket to conquer is 1.5" squares.
I wonder how long it will take me to make all these squares into blocks and how many blocks will I have.  Does anyone have a suggestion on what quilt to make after they are all sewn into patch blocks?
Here is 400 little squares ready to be sewn into 16 patch blocks and you can't tell I have taken any squares out of the basket.
It is a mystery why I thought I needed to cut and save these little squares.  When this basket is empty I will not be saving anymore little squares.

I also plan on sewing string blocks.  These blocks will be my 2016 Rainbow challenge project.  January rainbow is blue.
