Updates - August 23, 2015

Last fall I won Pat Sloan's Moda Love giveaway.  I won a fat quarter bundle, a jelly roll, and thread.  I made this quilt for a friend who is very giving.  These fabrics reminded me of her wonderful personality.  She is an inspiration because she always sees the positives in life.   She was very surprised and love it.

If you like this pattern.  It is  called Jenna.  You can find it at Shiner's View.  There is a tutorial there to make Jenna's quilt.  I think this pattern was perfect for these fabrics.

I have made a few indigo/black blocks for August.  I am using 1.5" squares to make the 16 patch blocks.  I have a few more ready to be sewn.  I have finally found a block I love to use my 16 patch squares.  This will be an on going project.

I have been making cancer hats.  I need to finish sewing the ones I have cut out so I can take them to the local cancer center.  They are fleece and it will be getting colder here in another month and I am sure they will be needed.  A friend gave me the brooches to add to the hats.

August Already

Normally the first of August is a crazy stressful time for me.  But I retired July 1.  My new stress is when can I sew all the quilts that are on my someday list.  Here are some of them that I have been sewing.
The tumbler quilt is now a flimsy.  It will be given to a veteran.
This flimsy will be given to a friend who does many things for others. I love these Pat Sloan fabrics.
I am making progress on my rainbow house blocks.  Here are two houses using the August  rainbow color of indigo.  I haven't found any true indigo color but I am counting these as indigo.

I now have 30 houses.  I need many more house blocks to make a quilt.  It looks like I need some more purple, pink, and green houses.

I am finally sewing on my flowering snowball quilt again  Half the rows are sewn together.  I love this quilt.   I usually give quilts away but not this quilt.

Don't you love it?
