Good Night Irene Sew-Along

Irene was on my design wall and she grew.   I decided I want my Irene quilt larger so I added two more blocks.  I finally got the second row of Irene done.

I needed my design wall cleaned off and Irene went back into the box for a couple of weeks.  This sew along has been fun.  If you want to see more Goodnight Irene's stop over at Terry's Treasures.

Have a sewing day,

Prayer Quilt

I make prayer quilts.  I was in a very long line at the funeral home and of course you talk to the people in the line with you.  As I caught up with an old friend I found out his SIL had cancer.  His brother and I graduated from high school together many years ago.  My thoughts went immediately to I need to make her a prayer quilt.  So in December 2012 I gave her this quilt.  She sent me a thank you that has touched my heart.

Since December 2012 I have had this thought running through my head.  Make a prayer quilt and give it to someone to give to someone who need prayers and comfort.  Well I have finally done that.  Last week I meet with a friend of mine and ask her if she would like to do this.
This is the quilt I gave her.  I ask her to prayer about who should receive this quilt for at least one week.  I told her I don't need to know who she gives the quilt to but I would like to know that she gave the quilt.
This is what is on the label.
May this quilt be a sign of God's loving, healing presence.  May it warm you when you are weary.   May it surround you with encouragement when you are discouraged.  May it remind you are surrounded by the prayers of others.  This quilt was made especially for you with love, hope and prayers.  Each knot represents a prayer that was said for you.  Hold it, touch it, wrap up in it....always knowing you are loved.

I hope my leap of faith comforts someone special.

My present sewing project is another prayer quilt for a lady going through cancer treatments.  Today I found out a co-worker has cancer.   How do I find the time to make another quilt?

Rainbow Blocks

Pink is February's color for the 2014 rainbow challenge.   I have decided I can do Get Your Mrs. Claus On Project.  If I can make a rainbow doll quilt each month I will have many quilts.  Here is the start to a pink doll quilt.  I still have lots blocks to make.  I may not get one made each month but I will be pleased if I can get a few made.
Bow tie blocks

I need your help with my blue blocks.  Tell me if you like the top border or should I take it off .  I would like to give this quilt to Quilt of Valor but I need to make it larger and I don't know what kind of borders to add to the blocks.   With the red border the quilt is 32x32.  I look forward to your suggestions.

I hope you hop on over to the Rainbow 2104 challenge and finds lots of pretty pink blocks and lots of inspiration.

More Pinks and a Finish

I did make a couple of more pink blocks this week.  I am going to make more pink bow tie blocks for a doll quilt.  Today I also worked on pink Beads Of Courage bags.  I should have them finished this week and be able to post next Saturday.

I also finished my blue half square triangles.  Now I need to find sashing for these blocks.  I am planning on donating this quilt to QOV.

This baby quilt will be giving to the hospital gift shop.  I will deliver it tomorrow when I volunteer.

I got a lot of sewing done this week-end.  I will have more to share next time.
